Cases

Bloom v. Goodner

Goodner sued Bloom in an action of forceable detainer in a St. Clair County Justice of the Peace Court. The jury found for Goodner. Bloom appealed to the Circuit Court which affirmed the judgement. Bloom appealed to the Illinois Supremee Court which affirmed the judgement.



Clark v. Cornelius

Isaac Clark appealed to the Justice of the Peace in St. Clair County for a debt of $176 owed him by Joseph Cornelius. The Justice of the Peace found in favor of Clark, to which Cornelius appealed to the St. Clair County Circuit Court. The Circuit Court decided the Justice of the Peace had no jurisdiction and dismissed the case. Clark then appealed to the Supreme Court who affirmed the Circuit Court's decision as the Justice of the Peace can not hear cases in amounts exceeding $100.



Cornelius v. Coons and Jarvis

Cornelius appealed to the St. Clair Circuit Court for an injunction against Coons and Jarvis for collecting a debt, to which the Court ruled for Cornelius. Coons and Jarvis answered and the Circuit Court thusly dissolved the injuction. Cornelius appealed to the Supreme Court and they affirmed the Circuit Courts decision.



Bryan et al. v. Primm

In the St. Clair County Circuit Court Primm sued Davidson to set aside a contract and to annul a judgement by Bryan and Morrison against him made under said contract. The Circuit Court ruled in favor of Primm. Bryan et al. Appealed to the Supreme Court, where the judgement was affirmed.



Moore v. Watts et al.

Moore sued Watts, Crocker, and Wells for Assault and Battery and False Imprisonment in the St. Clair County Circuit Court. The Court found in favor of Watts et al. Moore appealed to the Supreme Court, where the judgement was reversed and the cause remanded for new proceedings.



Noble v. People

Noble was indicted and found guilty for forgery in the St. Clair County Circuit Court. Noble appealed to the Supreme Court where the judgement was affirmed.
